Recruiting Report: Zach Theisen (2018)
Osseo’s Zach Theisen has long been considered one of the state’s most dangerous shooters. Today he talked to Prep Hoops about this season and his future.
“Things are off to a great start, 13-3 and tied for 1st place in our conference,” Zach said. “Our team is building that confidence and chemistry that we need to be a top contender in the state.”
Osseo was a team that of course was considered a top 15, top 20 squad in Minnesota’s Class AAAA level of basketball but they’ve proved so far this winter that they are top ten worthy.
“The talent returning is really well,” Zach said. “The outlook on what the team can do this year is getting to the State Tournament and than anything can happen from there.”
With Emmette Paige stepping forward to have a fantastic season and guys like Anthony Williams, Cornell Richardson, and Richard Mulbah all playing well Osseo is definite state threat.
Theisen is doing his part with 22.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. Zach has improved several areas of his game.
“My shooting has improved in my shot selection and efficiency, defensively I’m guarding the other teams best player every night and holding them to under their average,” Theisen said. “Another thing is attacking and passing off of ball screens has improved.”
Theisen has made solid progress on his season goals. Osseo has as good of a chance as anyone in their section to make state and his playmaking his helped several others put points on the board.
“Individual goals I have for this year is to average 5 assists a game and than team wise is to make it to state my senior year,” Zach said.
Theisen is hearing the most from a MIAC school and has a visit coming up as well.
“St Thomas has been in contact with me often, and then for a visit I’m visiting Grand Canyon University on March 9th.”
