Recruiting Report: Ryan Mazurek (2018)
Holy Angels 6-foot-4 two sport standout Ryan Mazurek is putting up 14 points and 5.2 rebounds a game for an improved Holy Angels team.
“Things are going pretty good,” Ryan said. “We have improved significantly from last year and even the beginning of the season. We have played tough and won a few key games that should set us up nice for our section.”
The Stars are much improved and much more competitive than they were a year ago and they are in section 3AAA that has St. Thomas and St. Croix Lutheran as favorites. The Stars just recently beat St. Croix Lutheran and they’ve recently beat Fridley and Cristo Rey so they have a chance to win this section.
“We have a lot more chemistry than last year,” Ryan said. “Everyone has played with each other for over a season now. Some young guys have really proved themselves since the start of the season and should make an impact going into sections.
“I expect us to win out of our section and beat St. Thomas in the section final. It will be a tough game but that’s a goal we have talked about as a team all year.”
Ryan had 21 in the win over the Crusaders playing big in a big game.
“I am shooting more consistent. This is the best I’ve ever shot from the three point line in my career. I also am playing more physical and I guard the biggest and strongest guy every game.”
Physical! Physical is something that Ryan also enjoys on the football field. Ryan could of played college hoops or college football but he’s heading to Vermillion to work on the grid iron.
“I had a couple of opportunities to play college hoops especially at Mayville State,” Ryan said. “I had more to play football including NDSU, USD, and Western Illinois. I signed with University of South Dakota to play football on signing day as a Tight end.”
