Recruiting Report: Peyton Williams (2019)
Over at The Villages, the Buffalo have a lengthy wing by the name of Peyton Williams.
The 6’7″, 180-pounder says he learned last year that playing hard instead of overthinking will help the game come to you.
Last season was Williams’ second full year of playing basketball. Coming over to The Villages, he says there are expectations to become a better player overall and compete in the Class 5A state title.
Williams points to his shooting and athleticism as two attributes that grew last season.
He currently has an offer from James Madison and interest from Butler, Mercer, Dayton and Houston.
Williams played with the 2019 Showtime Ballers group and the 2018 Balkman Elite group this past summer.
“Playing up pushed to be a better player because the older kids wouldn’t let me slack while I was playing with them,” he said.
In terms of his biggest strengths, Williams pointed to his rebounding, defensive ability, scoring and ability to be a good team player.
He wants to become a more dominant force on the offensive end and says that getting stronger will help everything else fall into place.
Raw, but talented Williams is a player to keep an eye on. He has some bright moments during games that include key jumpers and swats on defense. He’s right about the need to get stronger. Williams is skinny and needs to bulk up to take his game to the next level. He’s a smart and determined kid with a ton of untapped potential.
