Recruiting Report: Luke Ervie (2020)
Freeburg’s top prospect is 6’1” 2020 point guard Luke Ervie. The sophomore lead guard plays both on and off the ball for his high school team. When playing off the ball he does a nice job of moving without the rock to get open. Crisp and hard cuts trying to get room for his jumper. He is a plus shooter from three with a clean release. Tough and competitive kid that isn’t afraid to take it in the paint for scores through contact. Pushes in transition. Projects as a scoring point guard. Quality rebounder and brings effort on the defensive end. Top 50 2020 prospect in Illinois that should have low-major and D2’s monitoring him this spring and summer.
Ervie spoke about how his season is going with Freeburg.
“It is going good so far. I am scoring and making a big impact on this team.”
Where has he seen the biggest growth in his game?
“Shooting. Three point shooting especially and shooting off the bounce I have really improved.”
He talked about where he needs to get better.
“Finishing through contact and through big men.”
What is his role on his team at Freeburg.
“I see my role if I have a shot take it. If I have a drive take it. Be a team player and don’t be selfish if it is not there.”
