Recruiting Report: Jonte Coleman (2018)
Champaign Central 2018 guard Jonte Coleman has been one of our biggest small college stock risers this season. The 6’3” combo guard is a sniper from the perimeter. He might be one of the best pure shooters we have seen all season. Most of the time he uses his lethal shot off the catch, but also mixes in a step back three on occasion. Mostly a three point shooter, but every now and then will score in transition. Coleman should be a priority small college recruit for teams looking for a shooter with size.
How is his season going?
“I think I am playing well. I am knocking down shots. I feel like I should be knocking down more, but that is just me. I love playing. Every time I get on the court I leave it all out there.”
Coleman broke down his game and what he brings to a team at the next level.
“I have the length. I wasn’t really a great defender last year, but have really bought into defending. I like it now. I can shoot it. With my vision I can find people on the court.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“It is starting to pick up. I have had a few schools hit me up. Trinity, Quincy, and a couple of D3 colleges.”
He told us what he will be looking for in a program.
“I am looking for somewhere I fit in. The coaching staff I can connect with. I like connecting with people.”
