Recruiting Report: Jamille Reynolds (2020)
2020 Lakewood center Jamille Reynolds is a towering presence already.
The 6’10”, 237-pounder is rising up the ranks fast. He holds an offer from James Madison along with interest from FSU, UF, Oklahoma State, UCF, Iowa State and Baylor.
Although Reynolds is currently out with a torn meniscus, he’s been told that he’ll be cleared in time for the district playoffs here in a few weeks. He’s averaging 9.6 PPG and 5.2 RPG. His best performance came in a 68-67 loss to Booker on Dec. 28 when he scored 21 points and hauled in seven boards.
He says his game elevated a lot a year ago. Reynolds pointed to his post game, shooting and dribbling as a trio of things that have improved the most for him.
Over the summer, Reynolds suited up for E1T1 United. It was his first year with them and he said it was hard but he thoroughly enjoyed it.
“My experience with E1T1 was great because I got to meet a lot of stars and I had a great coach who got me a lot of exposure,” Reynolds told Prep Hoops Florida.
Starting his basketball career at age 12, he called his jump hook his biggest strength. Reynolds says he’s worked on it every day since he arrived at Lakewood last season. He wants to improve his ball handling.
Even without Reynolds, the Spartans own a 12-10 overall record and 7-2 showing in Class 6A-District 11. Junior starter Jalen White is back from a wrist injury and when Reynolds returns, Lakewood will be fully healthy just in time for a district tournament that will likely come down to them or top seed Gibbs.
