Recruiting Report: Jack Marinko (2018)
Edwardsville 6’0” 2018 point guard Jack Marinko is a tough and scrappy leader that elevates the play of those around him. As a scorer he is a capable three point shooter especially off the catch. Crisp handles in traffic and his speed allow him to get to the rim where he finishes well around traffic. He has a repertoire of scoring moves inside with runners, floaters, scoop shots, and acrobatic layups. Despite his usual scoring barrage he is also a quality passer. Shows a feel for getting others and really understands his team’s offense and where others should be. Pushes it in transition and finds his teammates. He is a gem at the D3 or NAIA level.
How is the season going from both a team and individual standpoint?
“I think it is going pretty good. Me and Caleb (Strohmeier) have had to take a different role this year from last year. I think we are stepping up. I think I am shooting the ball well and have attacked the rim well lately. That is what has improved in my game from last year being able to take it to the hole.”
He discussed what the biggest strengths he feels he can bring to a college team.
“I feel like I can hit deep threes from the outside and can shoot off the dribble. That is where I am strongest.”
Marinko updated us on his recruitment.
“I have a lot of schools like Millikin, Briar Cliff, Knox, Augustana, and Belleville Lindenwood.”
Any schools he would like to get out to for visits?
“I would like to see Briar Cliff. I visited Millikin, but I think I am going to go back there again.”
