Recruiting Report: Izeah Parker (2019)
Hopewell’s, 2019 Izeah Parker, is a 6’7 small forward, with guard like ability, who has contributed to a 18-3 record this season. His ability to explode at the basket, despite his lanky build is quite impressive, and Parker has began to develop a mid-range jumper as well. After a great summer with Team Loaded 757, and a handful of offers, Parker shows no signs of letting up any time soon. We spoke with Izeah, or Zay, as he is often referred to, on the current season and here are his thoughts.
- How is the season going?
“The season is going great, being 18-3 right now, I have a lot of confidence in myself and my guys that will win a state championship”
- What do you think has improved about your game from last season?
“The biggest improvement in my game from last season has to be my offensive skill set and IQ. I have to give credit to my AAU coaches, as well as my high school coaches for teaching me a lot over this past summer”
- As far as recruitment goes, what offers do you currently have, and what do you feel you can bring to a college program?
“Currently, I have offers from Mt. Saint Mary, Air Force, Campbell, Norfolk St., and Hampton. To be completely honest, I feel like the best thing I can bring to any college program is my motor, I feel like with a motor like I have, I have the ability to play on any college program in the country”
- What are you ultimately looking for in choosing a program?
“I’m really looking for a family fit, somewhere I feel appreciated, that I get noticed for the hard work I put in, and a school that has a winning culture”
- Goals for the rest of the season?
“The main goal for the rest of the season is to win a state championship. NO if, ands, or but’s about it”
Izeah will continue to provide an inside presence for his Hopewell squad as they look to finish up the regular season on Monday, February 12, against former Central District rival, Thomas Dale. As for the summer, Zay intends to again run with Team Loaded 757, and too contribute to another great season for them as well.
