Recruiting Report: Elijah Howell (2019)
Elijah Howell has been making contributions at Wiregrass Ranch for three seasons now.
The 2019 guard averaged a team-best 12.4 PPG this year for the Bulls. The 6’0″, 155-pounder showed promise as a sophomore with a 10.3 PPG average and the season prior averaging 6.0 PPG.
He says he learned a ton from his sophomore campaign.
“This past season taught me a lot, the seniors and even some of the juniors last year helped develop my confidence and game especially in practice,” Howell said.
Where has Howell’s game matured?
“I’ve grown the most this year with my confidence and trying to be more of a leader on the court,” he said.
Perhaps his biggest moment this season came late last month when Wiregrass Ranch played host to the IMG National team (STORY). Howell scored 11 points in the game and early on he found his groove and confidence.
This past summer, Howell was set to play for Team CP25, but he suffered an ankle injury and was forced to have surgery.
No offers have come yet for the 2019 guard, but he’s interest from Long Beach State and Brown.
He called his shooting his best asset. In terms of what Howell wants to improve that is his off dribble shooting and strength.
The Bulls graduate eight seniors this spring. This will be an awfully different looking team next year with Howell leading the way. The season ended last week in the Class 8A-District 8 quarterfinals for Wiregrass Ranch.
One thing is for sure, Howell has the basketball IQ to run an offense and he should take full advantage of being the guy in his senior campaign.
