Recruiting Report: Donovan Clay (2019)
Alton 2019 small forward Donovan Clay is a rangy 6’3” wing and his length allows him to play bigger than his height. He is active on the defensive end getting his hands on the ball and causing turnovers. A lot of times he flips those turnovers into points on the other end of the floor in transition. Usually a capable three point shooter spotting up which has improved since the summer. He scores with athleticism and strong takes to the rack on straight line drives. Projectable wing with upside.
He spoke about his season.
“I am doing pretty good. I need to shoot the ball more and be more active.”
Clay says he has been really working on improving his jump shot.
“I am in the gym every day at 6 AM trying to get my shot better. I am working to try to get better.”
What can he bring to a team at the next level?
“Effort, scoring, defense, and length. I can bring a lot to the table.”
SIU-Edwardsville and a couple of D2 schools have shown early interest him. He ran with Jets-Ramey United on the circuit.
