Recruiting Report: Daveonte Davis (2019)
Six-foot-3 junior guard Daveonte Davis of St. Paul Central has exploded this season scoring from every angle on the floor and putting up 23 points per game.
“So far on the season we’re 15-8 and lost to a couple top teams in Minnesota,” Daveonte said. “I’m currently averaging 23 points per game and 12 rebounds leading the St. Paul City Conference.”
Central is getting some of everything from Davis. He scores, boards, creates, and everything in between for the Minutemen.
“This year I’m more of a productive player all around for my team,” Davis said. “I’ve got way better ball handing and passing vision averaging 6 to 7 assists per game and I know how to facilitate the game when our guard is out and also rebound on both ends and get stops.”
Davis is 9-2 in league play and Central is in the stacked Section 4AAAA with White Bear Lake, CDH, East Ridge, North St. Paul, Woodbury, and Tartan. That’s seven teams with solid records ready to battle it out.
“We have a very good chance to be a top tier competitor in sections as long we play out style and get defenses stops cause we’ve been averaging 80 per game,” Davis said. “Our downfall might be match ups but we’re very athletic so it will be exciting.”
Davis has started to have some schools watch him play although he’s not sure who as of yet.
“Colleges have not reached out to me yet but I a couple have came to our games, which my coach hasn’t told the names yet!”
