One of the more intriguing prospects that is still unsigned is Sioux Falls Lincoln point guard Christophe Bwanya. Recently, PHD ranked Bwanya the third best PG in the 2018 class in South Dakota. As the main ball handler and distributor on his team, Bwanya has led the Patriots in assists. This has created a nice, balanced scoring attack. Currently the SF Lincoln Patriots are 11-6 and sitting in 5th place according to power points in class AA.
“The season started off with a bang,” Bwanya said. “We won seven straight games then we hit a mid-season stalemate where we didn’t play well enough or with enough energy.”
That ”mid-season stalemate” was a three-game losing streak against some good teams including SF Washington and Sioux City East (IA).
“Now we are at the end of the regular season and it’s time to start firing again. We need a great postseason push and now is the time to do it.”
The goal has remained the same for Bwanya and his teammates: a state tourney appearance, and win it all. After season there will be more of a focus set on his college search and making a decision on playing after high school.
Bwanya had D2 and NAIA interest this past summer and fall, now he is focusing on a possible junior college route. Undecided on a major, Bwanya plans to visit some JUCOs this spring after season concludes. Teammate Diang Gatluak has already decided to go the JUCO route as he is committed to North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS). Bwanya hopes to have some successful visits and make a decision before graduation.
“I’m just trying to go to the best place for me. I want to go where it is best for me both school wise and basketball wise. Somewhere where I can reach my full potential.”
