Recruiting Report: Cameron Seaton (2018)
Evansville North’s sharpshooter is starting to receive some interest and is starting to figure out which schools that he is interested in. Cameron Seaton, is a 6’2 shooting guard who can shoot the lights out of the ball and when he gets hot, he’s one of the best shooters in the state.
This year, Seaton has had five games where he’s made four or more three-pointers with his best outing coming when he hit seven and scored 33 points. On the year, he is averaging 15.5 points a game but is also grabbing 5.2 rebounds a game from the guard spot. Seaton is shooting 36 percent from behind the arc and 45 percent from the floor.
Seaton has been on two visits this year, one to Franklin College and one to Wabash College. Seaton is wanting to get up to visit Hope College but hasn’t made it there quite yet. Seaton hasn’t ruled out any other visits but is receiving interest from a multitude of schools.
Evansville North got off to a slow start this year and sit at 8-10, but are starting to turn things around. They were 1-6 through the first seven games of the year and now they are playing some good basketball even though they have a tough schedule.
“I feel like as a team we play well together,” Seaton said. “We love to find the hot hand. I like to drive and then kick to my teammates because I have confidence that they all will knock the shot down. I feel like I have shot the ball well this year which has opened up opportunities for me to kick it to my teammates. With that being said, they always find me in return.”
Seaton has always been a good shooter throughout high school but he is starting to become a more rounded player since he played football this past year. Seaton has improved some key things this year, some of which don’t really show up in the box score.
“I feel I have improved my on-ball defense,” Seaton said. “I have also gotten more comfortable with the ball being in my hands and creating. With the help of football and the weight room, I am grabbing more rebounds than ever.”
Seaton is still working on his quickness so that his game can translate better to the next level but what is certain is that his shooting will translate. Coaches have said that there are certain things that they love about his game and Seaton has expressed that he wants to play college basketball and isn’t going to be caught up on any certain thing before he picks a school.
“They love my ability to shoot the ball,” Seaton said. “They like my ability to perform under pressure. I would prefer a school up to six hours away or closer.”
