Prospect Spotlight: La’Marc Amos (2021)
A young prospect with a very high ceiling, David Thibodaux 6-foot-5 forward La’Marc Amos has a big year ahead of him.
The freshman is having a nice season with the Bulldogs, and says stout defense and passing from the post are strengths of his.
“My best asset is playing in the post, blocking shots and being a great help-side defender. Offensively, I can get my teammates easy buckets,” said Amos.
“My jump-shot and my ball-handling needs to improve. And I need to improve my basketball IQ.”
He added: “I’d like to continue and evolve along the perimeter. But, right now, I’m most comfortable in the paint. That’s where I get my easy buckets.”
With the Bulldogs, he’s taken his part as role player. He’s biding his time before he’s one of the top dogs on the team.
“My role is to defend, and helping out the team when I can,” said Amos. “I’m not a selfish guy, I just try and get my teammates the ball and run the plays right.”
In just two months, Amos will embark on an important 15U season with one of the South’s premier programs, NOLA 23.
“I’m just trying to get stronger and put on a few more pounds and put on some more muscle. Obviously, I’m going to work on my game a little bit more, to get ready for next year,” said Amos.
“No coaches have been talking to me yet, but I think that start happening this summer.”
