Prospect Spotlight: Carlos Dunn (2019)
Carlos Dunn was ready to contribute he was called on in this week’s DCIAA Championship game vs. Theodore Roosevelt. The experienced class of 2019 guard, who was on the team that lifted last year’s trophy, knew the importance of his role in order for his team to succeed this season.
“Over the course of the season I understood that I had to accept winning over standing out for us to be champs,” said Dunn, who recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal on Wednesday night. “I would describe myself as a player who brings energy and will to a team. I can score the ball, whether it’s hitting the open shot, getting to the basket, or shooting the pull up. I take a lot of pride in defense, wanting to shut down my opponent.”
There’s little doubt that Dunn has the potential to be an impact player when given the opportunity. His jump-shot has gone to the next level given that he’s become a threat to shoot off the bounce.
“I want to improve my ball-handling, my speed, and jumping ability, just getting stronger overall,” Dunn stated. “School is going well. I had a 3.1 last quarter, and 3.5 first quarter. I haven’t taken the SAT yet.”
What does Dunn think he can bring to a college program down the road?
“I take pride in defense. I can shoot and handle the ball. I can bring some heart, and a lot of energy with my mentality to work hard.”
