Prospect Introduction: 2021 Jordyn Manning
2021 point guard Jordyn Manning is a high IQ player who excels with a upperclassmen team.
Manning walked into Plant City High during the summer to work out during open gym. When he got there, he saw several guys from last seasons team and joined them.
“When I started working out and playing with the guys, I felt like i belonged with them. At that point, i knew that I wanted to and had a goal of making varsity,” Manning stated.
From day 1 of preseason workouts, head coach Billy Teeden saw something special in the point guard.
Coach Teeden said, “I saw him keeping up in drills and running his team in open play open so I gave him some responsibilities and plays to see what he could handle. It was then I believed he could help out the varsity squad.”
Manning is averaging 5 points and 2 assist per game. He is the floor general and directs every aspect of the district champion Raiders team.
“As the season started, I heard the expectations for our team. I saw how good we could be if I did my job to the best of my abilities so I set goals to keep my turnovers down and just run the team as a point guard should,” Manning said.
Talking to Jordyn, the district title isn’t enough and it’s only a step in the team’s goal.
“When we played Lakewood Ranch at the RP Funding center, we were disappointed in the outcome but we new that we could play with a team that made it to the finals last year. That hope made us set a goal to get back there for the state championship. We have all the tools so why not us” Manning stated!
Once the season is over, Jordyn stated he’d be playing travel with Henson Select. He also said he’d continue working on his overall game and he patterns himself after guys like Kyrie Irving and De’Aaron Fox.
