Player of the Week – Week 12
There were several impressive individual performances last week in the district tournaments. Here are the Player of the Week nominees for Week 12:
J.R. Tackett, Floyd Central – The senior had a big week for Floyd. Tackett had 29 points against Lawrence County then put up 24 in the championship game against Prestonsburg. Tackett was named District Tournament MVP and 58th District Player of the Year.
Jacob Hobbs, Central Hardin – The 6’7 Junior averaged 18.5 points and 13.5 rebounds while blocking 9 shots against Elizabethtown and John Hardin as the Bruins advanced to the regional tournament.
Jackson Gibson, Oldham County – Just cleared to return from a hand injury, the Senior PG led Oldham to an 8th straight district title with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in the championship game.
Nataj Sanders, Campbellsville – The Junior leading scorer for the Eagles had 18 points and 11 rebounds in their win over Taylor County in the semifinals and pushed Campbellsville to their first regional appearance since 2010. Sanders also scored 17 points in the Championship game.
Dontaie Allen, Pendleton County – The Junior led the Pendleton County Wildcats to a district title with a remarkable 71 points and 28 rebounds in two games. Allen outscored Harrison County 48-44 in the title game.
