NCHSAA East Region Round 3 Recap
Rocky Mount Prep came up with the win over East Carteret 63-56 and got a nice showing from Unsigned Senior Guard Khalil Baker who finished with 18 points. The lack of recruitment for Baker is very puzzling as he is a player is averaging over 25 points per game and can play multiple guard positions.
Farmville Central defeated West Craven and their dynamic duo of guards had a very nice impact on the game from start to finish. Sophomore Guard Justin Wright went for 30 points while Freshman Guard Terquavion Smith added 24 points in the win, if there is a better young dynamic duo in the state, then I will need to see for myself.
Pamlico County continued their impressive run with a win over research triangle, PC Junior Guard George Jones led the way in scoring with 25 points on the night while Junior Lamont Murray pitched in 19 points for the Hurricanes.
Fairmont HS has gained a reputation as a team that can make deep runs in the state playoffs and this year has been no different. The Golden Tornadoes got a big time game from Junior Guard Javon Morris with 22 points and got the big time win over Reidsville.
To say Clinton High School has been dominant, would be an understatement. They have destroyed every team they matched up with so far in the playoffs with the latest team being Southwest Onslow. Clinton HS Junior Forward Xavier Howard scored 21 point on the night as he has shown this season that he is a player in the 2019 class that people should keep a close eye on.
Northside-Jacksonville continued their dominance with a win over Terry Sanford HS of Fayetteville, the Monarchs would win this matchup by 40 with the game never being close. The Monarchs have multiple seniors that have the ability to play on the next level which includes: Kenny Dye, Jason Robinson, Jason Mixon, Gabe Kirkendoll and more , so stopping this team is a tall task for just about anybody.
