NCHSAA 4A East Regional 1st Round Matchups to Watch!
Leesvile Road vs Ashley: With one of the top backcourts in the state, Leesville Road has the guard play that you want to have when tournament time comes with Jalen Benjamin and Carter Witt teamed up together. Ashley has the coaching that is needed but will need some big time performances from their own guards to pull off this upset.
Athens Drive vs Holly Springs: If you’re in the Raleigh area then you definitely don’t want to miss this game, both teams have star power and should be a nice matchup. Athens Drive features Sophomore Guard Lawrence Frost and Junior DJ Robertson who both can fill it up at any given moment. However Holly Springs has Senior Wing Erik Alvey and Junior Forward/Center Kadin Shedrick who have been turning plenty of heads this year.
Knightdale vs Pine Forest: The Pine Forest Trojans have faced a fair amount of good team this year and will need to use that experience tonight if they wish to pull off an upset against Knightdale HS. The Knights have size, strength and experience so the Trojans will need a big time night from Junior Guard Adrian Elliot who can score the ball very well.
Millbrook vs Lumberton: Millbrook has been pretty successful this season while Lumberton has had a bit of an up and down year. With that being said, the Pirates are more than capable of pulling of a possible upset over the Milbrook squad due to their combination of Guard play in Steph Lloyd and Jordan McNeill along with the inside presence of Braylen Grice. Millbrook will look for production from their entire squad but the game changing position battle could be at the Center spot with Millbrook featuring Freshman Will Felton inside the paint.
Wakefield vs Jordan: Wakefield HS comes in with a record of 17-9 and have been led by Junior Trae Smith who is averaging almost 18 points and 7 rebounds per contest. Jordan HS on the other hand is led by Senior Jaylen Richard who has been an absolute scoring machine this season and is averaging just under 29 points per game. We can expect a lot of points to be scored in this matchup as both of the teams have had a fair share of high scoring games this season
