Marquee Matchups: Week 11 in Southern Ohio
Four rematches in week 11 of our Southern Ohio games of the week.
Feb. 6: Fairland at Gallia Academy
The only loss on Gallia’s schedule is by 49 points against Fairland early in the season. While they likely haven’t improved by 50 points since that time, this is one of the top Southeast Ohio games on the schedule. The individual matchup to watch for is between unsigned 6’8” senior Kollin Van Horn and sophomore Zach Loveday, a 6’11” post player we have ranked #1 in the sophomore class.
Feb. 9: Indian Hill at Deer Park
Although senior Colin Shaw dropped 26 in their last showdown, Deer Park had too many weapons and won by 18 on the road. These have been the two best teams in the Cincinnati Hills Conference all season, but Deer Park has widened the margin over time. DP hasn’t lost a game all season, led by transfer Damani Mcentire and sophomore guard Mark Wise.
Feb. 9: Wayne at Springfield
Springfield once again finds itself in arguably the game of the week in Ohio. Really, both of these teams have played a brutal schedule over the last month or so. It’s another rematch, as Wayne won by three points at home and needed overtime. Since that time, Springfield has regained junior guard Jay Rodgers into their rotation.
Feb. 10: Anna at Fort Loramie
Anna beat an undefeated Fort Loramie on Jan. 23 in overtime. Not only did it end a perfect season for Loramie, it put Anna on the map and established them as a contender in Division III. Now that this game will be played at Loramie, we expect their senior trio of Evan Berning, Dillon Braun, and Tyler Siegel to come out hungry to revenge from the tip-off.
