Inside the Numbers
Prep Hoops is going to breakdown some numbers from the SCISA 3-A State Tourney First Round Games on Wednesday.
1 – This is the first time First Baptist has made it to the Sumter Civic Center in the past 5 years of trying to play in the Quarterfinals. The Hurricanes plays 2-A football has won the past 2 state championships.
2 – Porter Gaud currently has won the past 2 state championships. The Cyclones will go for the 3-peat this weekend.
3 – Freshman players that saw great deal of playing time in the opening round. Cohen Gaskins, Joshua Beadle and Denham Wojcik.
4 – Hospitality stops throughout the day – Hot Dogs, Corn-Cheese Dish with Tostitos – UNREAL and some brownies.
5 – Jaterric Clark and Joseph Powell both connected on 5 three pointers today in wins.
7 – Players signed for next season. Aaron Nesmith – Vanderbilt, Jake Lanford – Yale, Jalen Slawson – Furman, Harrison Whatley – New York University, Brandon Pirie – Francis Marion, Patrick Reedy – South Carolina (Football) and Mark White – North Greenville (SC) (Football)
8 – 1,000 point scorers – Aaron Nesmith, Jalen Slawson, Michel Dukes, Lucas Prickett, Jake Lanford, Josiah James, Matt Lee and Chico Carter Jr.
2,018 – Career point total for Aaron Nesmith after scoring 29 points in the opening round victory over Ben Lippen. Nesmith started the game with 1,991 points. Nesmith is ranked #2 in the Prep Hoops 2018 Palmetto State Class will play at Vanderbilt next fall.

74 – Michel Dukes (2019) has scored 74 touchdowns the past 2 seasons for the First Baptist Hurricanes. Dukes has helped the Hurricanes win 2 State Football Championships in SCSA 2-A. Dukes has ran for 4.341 yards on the gridiron.
Dukes currently has football offers from Arkansas, Georgia State, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Dukes told Prep Hoops the other day he plans on playing AAU this spring. Dukes is ranked #10 in the Prep Hoops 2019 Palmetto State Class.
