All-Football Team: Offense
Today is National Signing Day for college football. One of my favorite days of the year! On this day every year we release our All-Basketball Football Team. To be considered for this the player must be a ranked and legit basketball prospect, but would make an outstanding football player. Here is our Offense!
QB – Justin Hardy (St. Charles East)
In past years there was an obvious choice here as there was a player that was going to play QB in college. Not the case this year. We looked for a protype pocket passer. Someone strong, physical, has a presence to him, leader, and has the size. Justin Hardy fits the bill!
RB – Jihrel Brock (Quincy)
Brock is an easy selection here as the top 100 in-state hoops recruit is one of the premier running backs in the country in the 2019 class. He is a bruising back with speed and power. Work horse back for our offense!
RB – Ayo Dosunmu (Morgan Park)
Dosunmu is the change of pace back. He is an elusive ball handler in traffic which translates to the gridiron. Good in the passing game catching the ball out of the backfield and with his size can be a mismatch splitting him out wide.
WR – Messiah Jones (Simeon)
Jones is an elite jumper on the offensive glass with maybe the best second jump of anyone in the state. That makes him a great option here with his 6’6” frame to high point balls in the red zone.
WR – Zion Griffin (Hinsdale South)
Griffin is a freak athlete with size, speed, and explosion. He can be both a physical possession receiver mauling corners or a vertical threat.
WR – EJ Liddell (Belleville West)
Liddell is a mismatch on the hardwood with his athleticism on the interior. He will do just that for our squad as a vertical threat at the wide receiver spot that can be a mismatch in the end zone.
WR – Cam’Ron Donatlan (West Aurora)
Donatlan will actually be playing this position in college at Wyoming. He is a plus athlete that will run crisp routes over the middle with his toughness.
TE – Chris Payton (Bloomington)
This might be a bit of a surprise considering there are a pair of basketball playing TE that will be doing this in college, but we went with the insane upside that Payton would present. At 6’7” with a physical build he has Gronk like qualities and the toughness to block.
OT – Julian Pearl (Danville)
Pearl is headed to Illinois as an offensive tackle so he is the perfect fit here. Projectable upside as a tackle with his athleticism and footwork.
OT – Ryan Davis (Conant)
Davis is our other tackle with his huge 6’9” frame. What makes him a great option here is the athleticism he brings to the table with his mobility, athleticism, and footwork.
G – Dechaun Anderson (Leo)
You need a mauler and run blocker at the guard spot and Anderson brings that toughness on the interior of our line. Quick athlete that can pull and pancake guys.
G – Devon House (Sterling Newman)
House is a big bodied 6’6” post that has quick feet and good hands. That translates well to playing on the interior of our offensive line.
C – Pavle Pantovic (DePaul Prep)
At center you need toughness, grit, and smarts. This DePaul Prep post provides all three of those and will be able to make calls at the line of scrimmage.
RETURN – Kendle Moore (Danville)
Moore is thin, but he is electric with the ball in his hands weaving in and out of the defense. Dynamic punt and kick returner that should give our offense great field position.
K – Caleb Griffin (Danville)
Griffin will be doing this at the college level so he is the no brainer choice here. He is a three point specialist on the hardwood and gridiron.
