All-Football Team: Defense
Today is National Signing Day for college football. One of my favorite days of the year! On this day every year we release our All-Basketball Football Team. To be considered for this the player must be a ranked and legit basketball prospect, but would make an outstanding football player. Here is our Defense!
DE – Talen Horton-Tucker (Simeon)
THT would be a perfect five technique defensive end that could also rush the passer. Long arms will allow him to shed offensive lineman and he has the speed to chase down running backs.
DE – Raekwon Drake (Orr)
Drake will be our elite pass rusher. Think a young Jevon Kearse! Freak quick twitched athlete that can get up the field and cause havoc on the quarterback.
DT – Jordan Morris (Proviso East)
Morris is a physical and explosive athlete that will provide a three technique rusher up the middle for our defensive line. Get up field after the quarterback and disrupt running plays.
DT – Keith Randolph (Belleville West)
Randolph might end up on the D Line in college so he makes sense. Wide bodied and explosive athlete that can hold up against the run while also creating a push up the middle.
OLB – Kenyon Duling (Morgan Park)
Duling is a tough and physical forward that would fit well as an outside linebacker running down opponents on the perimeter.
MLB – Zion Young (Simeon)
Young is a freak show athlete with tremendous lower body strength. Provides that thump we need in the middle of this defense!
OLB – Dashon Enoch (OPRF)
Enoch could cover a TE and has the speed/power to chase down running backs in the open field. Strength and athleticism make him a good fit here.
CB – Anthony Fairlee (Springfield Southeast)
Fairlee is an elite athlete and we could see him being a dynamic player in real life doing this. At 6’3” he is a big corner and you aren’t going to see anyone get behind him or out jump him.
CB – Markese Jacobs (Uplift)
Jacobs is a smaller corner at 5’11” but with his strength and quickness along with a huge vertical he makes for an ideal corner. Short area quickness and toughness are a plus.
SS – Terrence Hargrove (East St. Louis)
Hargrove is an eraser on the hardwood swatting shots and would do that in the back of our defense. Long and rangy athlete that also has enough strength to lay a big hit on a wide out.
FS – Javon Freeman (Whitney Young)
Freeman has the range and athleticism to be the ideal final piece to our secondary. He will chase down deep receivers and make plays on the ball.
