Five Takeaways: Rock Creek Christian vs. Riverdale Baptist
UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Senior night was a success for Rock Creek Christian, who defeated Riverdale Baptist by a final score of 84-70. Here we recap this contest with five takeaways.
PRESTON SHOWCASES VERSATILITY
Not only did 2018 Jon Preston shoot the ball exceptionally well from the perimeter, but he showed that he can also create for his teammates. The unsigned senior, who scored a team-high 22 points, handed out 5 assists. Preston has a strong academic record and remains one of the top available seniors in Maryland.
TOATLEY PROPELS RIVERDALE
Donovann Toatley scored a game-high 35 points, shooting 10 of 25 from the field, 0/9 from three, and 15/16 from the line. The Chattanooga commit was the only player with the confidence to shoot, but clearly would have preferred some help. Toatley never came out of the game, and had to deal with Rock Creek’s pressure by himself.

HARRIS DOMINATES DOWN LOW
It was an off night for Jermaine Harris, but he still double-doubled. The Rhode Island Commit, who recorded 17 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks, and 2 assists, shot just 5/14 from the field. Harris was efficient from the foul line, where he was 7 for 9, and worked hard to corral 9 offensive rebounds.

BAUCUM SHOWS SIGNS
2018 D’Marco Baucum was the best player off the bench by a mile in this game. The 6’7 forward, who scored from a variety of areas, contributed with 12 points. Baucum had a breakaway dunk which was easily one of the best highlights of this game.
FRESHMAN WATCH
We got to the gym early enough to see 2021 Zion Russell perform well in the JV game, and were not really surprised to see him play significant minutes on Varsity for Riverdale Baptist Head Coach Lou Wilson. The explosive freshman is certainly one to watch moving forward.
