Five Takeaways: Gonzaga vs Bishop O’Connell
Bishop O’Connell defeated Gonzaga 57-53 in a WCAC thriller on Monday afternoon. This was the last regular season game for both teams before the WCAC tournament starts later in the week. Here are five takeaways from the game.
2018 Xavier Johnson Puts Stamp Down On WCAC Player Of The Year Campaign
Nebraska commit Xavier Johnson had another big game for O’Connell who has had an excellent senior year. I don’t know how many people were talking about Xavier being in the conversation for WCAC player of the year but if I had to cast a vote he would certainly be mine.
2019 Ayan Teel Showed Out For Bishop O’Connell
Teel led the game in scoring finishing with 19 points and scored those points in a variety of ways. He is a smaller guard but is not afraid to drive to the rim and he was very successful at doing that yesterday. Teel had a huge momentum boosting game yesterday heading into the WCAC tournament.
Bishop O’Connell Is Hot Heading Into Tournament Play
With the win yesterday, Bishop O’Connell clinched the 3 seed in the WCAC tournament. Other than Paul VI, O’Connell is the hottest team in the league heading into the tournament by winning their last 8 games. This is a very underrated team that could very much make some noise this weekend.
Gonzaga Is A Scary 4 Seed
The defending WCAC tournament champions are slotted in as the 4 seed in the upcoming WCAC tournament. Just because they are 4th doesnt mean they are a threat to win the whole thing though. They have talent at every position and very well could end up playing in the championship game Monday night at American University.
WCAC Is The Best League In America
How fitting is it that conference tournament seeding literally came down to the last regular season game of the year. It was another awesome regular season in the WCAC and the drama should continue to unfold this upcoming weekend at the tournament.
