Hennessey traveled to Kingfisher to take on the #1 Yellow Jackets.
The game was mostly back and fourth with both teams finding success in the paint. It wasn’t until the 4th quarter that Kingfisher pulled away.
The duo of Trey Green and Jett Sternberger lead the charge for Kingfisher, while Hennessey forward Dalton Vinson fought against foul trouble to lead Hennessey. Kingfisher came out on top with a 72-53 win.
Jett Sternberger (Kingfisher) 2019 PG
Sternberger has lit up the scoreboard this year and continued to do so against Hennessey. The junior point guard scored a game high 29 points while lighting it up from behind the arc. Sternberger has all the intangibles to help Kingfisher go back-to-back.
Trey Green (Kingfisher) 2019 G
Green was killer in transition for the Yellow Jackets. He was playing the passing lanes very well and showed great composure when finishing around the basket. Green has been tasked with playing a little more in the paint with Kingfishers lack of size.
Matthew Stone (Kingfisher) 2021 G
Stone has been thrown in the fire this year with fellow freshman Bijon Cortis. The duo has answered and taken the challenge in stride. Stone played very solid on defense and was key with being able to switch onto other players using his length and quickness.
Dalton Vinson (Hennessey) 2018 PF
Vinson found himself in foul trouble Tuesday, but was still able to keep Hennessey in the game. That was until he fouled out early in the 4th quarter. Vinson scored 15 points to lead Hennessey.
Carlos Rojo (Hennessey) 2018 PG
Rojo tried to lead the charge in the 4th quarter. Although they came up short, Rojo showed that he has the tool to be a deadly scorer. The senior point guard is extremely quick and has a very solid handle. Rojo has range past the arc and also showed great vision in close quarters.
