Elite 50 Showcase Notes: Part 2
Team Nixon Guard Xavier Hunter: He finished the day as a top performer and displayed his shooting ability as well as his ability to get to the basket without extra dribbling. With youngsters we have noticed that their shoe size and wingspan can possibly give a hint as to potential growth and it seems as if he can end up being a nice sized wing over time.
Team Williams Guard Jordan Cooper: It’s rare to see a young man take such a business like approach to the game but he clearly does. Throughout the day he displayed some outstanding ballhandling skills, quick hands defensively and a demeanor that would make just about any player he matched up with a bit nervous.
Team Williams Forward Mikhail Pocknett: One of the bigger players that was in the building , he still has a ways to go but you have to love his upside. He rebounded the ball at a very high rate and showed his above average strength throughout the day which will only increase in the upcoming years.
Team Williams Wing RJ Vick: Another youngster with a very mature and smooth game, he plays well through contact and finishes inside the paint. You have to like his ability to shoot the deep ball as well as knock it down efficiently from mid rage, he uses the jab move well and was efficient throughout.
Team Mayfield Forward Christian Shearouse: Has good height for a player at the guard spot, showed some tremendous ability to shoot the deep ball even when contested. What I liked the most about his performances was how often he moved without the ball and the amount of communication he had with teammates.
Team Glenn Guard/Forward Nayshin Waller: One of the most athletic players that came to the showcase , he can score the ball nicely and has a quick first step. From what we saw he has a good amount of upside and will be one to keep an eye on as time goes on.
