Division II & III Guards in WNC
6’0, 2018 Guard Zion Walker (Asheville HS)-Walker is a multi-dimensional guard for The Cougars. He does a little bit of everything for his team. Against North Buncombe HS last week, he had 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. He provides senior leadership, a knack for scoring, great vision, and is tough. He does a good job of finishing on the break, he can get out and defend the opposition’s best player, and he can rebound well for his size.
6’3, 2018 Guard Deland Thomas (Rosman HS)-Thomas is one of Rosman’s all-time leading scorers. He has really good size at closer to 6’4 and can score over smaller guards in the always tough Smoky Mountain Conference. He can fill up the scoring column by averaging nearly 30 points per game. He is a strong, lean guard that is also a good defender. He has the ability to score the ball consistently past the three-point line. He has long arms and has a high basketball IQ. He averages nearly 8 rebounds per game while also coming up with nearly 2 steals per game.
6’4, 2020 Guard Lucas Jenkins (Mountain Heritage HS)-Jenkins missed a few games to start the season for the state-ranked Cougars but he is one of their best all-around players.
He had a really good summer and picked up an offer from Mars Hill University after a strong showing at their Elite Camp. He is a broad shouldered guard/forward that is hard to guard with his strength and scoring ability.
6’3, 2018 Guard Ja’Kell Gossett (North Henderson HS)-The Athletic Gossett is a scoring machine for North Henderson, and is averaging close to 18 points per game. He is a legitimate threat from deep and can consistently knock down shots beyond the three-point line. He is able to defend well and rebound. He is a legitimate player at the Division II Level from WNC.
