College Prospects from North Buncombe vs West Henderson
West Henderson HS took the final regular a season meeting with North Buncombe in convincing fashion. This game was all North Buncombe as The Blackhawks advanced to the semi-finals of the WMAC Conference tournament held at Erwin HS with a 68-48 win over the Falcons.
(left-Ben Bryson) (middle-Joey Bryson)Dalton Whitt (West Henderson)-Long, good rebounder, keeps the ball high, good first-step, good pull-up jumper, scored 14 points on a variety of mid-range shots, transition scores, and rebound put-backs.
Ben Bryson (West Henderson)-Sophomore has a good shot, understands the game, coachs’ son, can score it in multiple ways, plays smart, moves well without the ball and is a pesky defender. Dad played at Western Carolina University during the late 1990’s and is West Henderson’s all-time leading scorer.
Jack Ritchie (North Buncombe)-The junior is a strong finisher, does a good job of getting to the rim, quick in the open floor, stays under control, strong for his size. Scored 20 points on a variety of scoring plays to lead North Buncombe.
Chandler Brown (North Buncombe)– Small but a consistent 3-point shooter, has a nice release and can get off his shot by creating space.
Ren Dyer (North Buncombe)-The athletic small forward is starting to consistently make the three-point shot, something that was not in his game most of the season. He was face-guarded the entire game but still found ways to score. This summer with PSB Elite, I think he will strive because defenses can’t afford to face-guard with the other talent on the floor. This is something I think can push him to the next level. He has a great knack for scoring the ball from 15-feet in. He is a big-time rebounder and went for a double-double last night in a first round win over West Henderson HS. He is a strong player that does a good job of reading defenses and making the hard pass look easy.
