Class of 2020 Wing Stock Risers
What shooting guard and small forwards in the 2020 class have made the biggest jumps and seen their rankings get a boost because of it? We dive into that group here!
SG Dante Maddox (Bloom)
Previous Ranking: #29
Current Ranking: #14
Maddox showed flashes over the summer of his potential as a scorer. He has taken it up a notch this season for Bloom. The shooting guard has deep range on his jump shot and that was no more evident than when we saw him at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament torch the nets up for tons of threes. He is a volume scorer that at times can take some questionable shots, but is improving in that area as well. Big time scoring potential on a young and loaded Bloom squad that will make noise the next two seasons. Maddox should be tracked by mid-major and low-major schools.
SF Jabari Chiphe (Walter Payton)
Previous Ranking: #53
Current Ranking: #32
Chiphe is a 6’3” rangy two guard that will need to add strength long term, but has a lot of game. As a sophomore he quietly has had a breakout season. He is super smooth with the basketball handling getting to the hoop on slippery drives. Finishes at the rim with his athleticism. He is an active rebounder as well. Over the head release on his shot.
SG Pee Wee Brown (Manual)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #40
Really liked what we saw out of this 6’1” shooting guard in the first half of the season. Projectable body with length where he should grow a few more inches. Slippery slasher that attacks with authority. Gets in the lane and finishes at the cup. Explosive second jump around the hoop. Plays well in transition. Gets on the glass. Tough and versatile defender with active hands.
SG Tagen Pearson (Nazareth)
Previous Ranking: NR
Current Ranking: #55
The 6’1” shooting guard is a little undersized, but has projectability to grow a couple more inches in his final three years of high school. Pure shooting stroke from three. Gets elevation off the floor and has good rotation on his shot. Makes a couple nice passes, but also turns it over at times when playing on the ball. Definitely more comfortable playing off the ball moving to get open and setting up his shot. This is his first year playing ball in Illinois and is making a name for himself as a prospect.
