Bracket Preview: Division II-A Middle Regional
The Feet of Webb School (Bell Buckle, TN) dropped C.P.A. Saturday, upending the district’s top team. With that important win Keon Johnson (2020 wing) and his Feet claimed the region’s top seed (see below).
Keon Johnson predicted his team would challenge, possibly defeat C.P.A. after Webb’s win Friday.
One single win situated Webb on the softer side of the tournament. A path to the Regional Finals looks much more manageable for Webb. Only Friendship Christian and either Clarksville Academy or Franklin Road Academy stand in their way.
For 5-seed FRA, Tyrus Baynham is playing well. Also, the Panthers play more punishingly than most Divsion II-A teams. Offensive rebounds are common for the Panthers and Baynham is the rare athlete in the same stratosphere as Keon Johnson.
The other half will be decided by two daunting matchups. Goodpasture gets a difficult draw with Battle Ground Academy Wednesday night. With Tripp McEachern carrying the workload nightly, his Cougars will rack up the points against anybody. To prepare your scout read back when Tripp torched the Columbia Academy.
Either C.P.A. or Donelson Christian Academy (DCA) could advance from the bottom pairing. The Lions did lose Saturday, but no team in the region faced more in-game adversity this season.
Bryce McCormick previewed the Lion’s chances Saturday and the mindset applies to their state title aspirations.
