American Canyon High School Senior guard Malik Ghiden scored a career-high 35 points and led the Wolves to a 79-62 win over Benicia High School. The win put them in a tie for second place in the Solano Athletic Conference. Vanden High School is currently in first place as they sit at 6-0. Ghiden’s 35 points would be a school record for American Canyon High School which first opened in the fall of 2010.
Ghiden has been noted as one of the most underrated players in the class of 2018 and has continued to rise his stock. He is currently receiving some division 2 interest but still has no offers on the table. Ghiden plans to continue to finish his senior strong and help American Canyon make a deep playoff run.”Last year we got a taste of the playoffs, and now we want to return and make a deep run” Ghiden said. American Canyon High School first opened in 2010 before making their first postseason appearance during the 2016-2017 season. Right now they stand at 5-2 in the conference and are one win away from clinching a playoff spot for the second straight season. American Canyon will take on Vallejo at their place this Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
