5 Takeaways : Palmetto Christian vs Shannon Forest
Prep Hoops started the day at a SCISA AA Quarterfinals game in Sumter, SC at Wilson Hall. The Palmetto Christian Academy Eagles out of Mount Pleasant took on the Crusaders from Shannon Forest Christian.
The teams came out in swinging in the first half back and forth with the Crusaders heading into the halftime break up 30-25. David Muncy had 14 points at break for Shannon Forest while, Palmetto Christian Maliek Brown had 17 points.
The 2nd half wasn’t the same at all as the Eagles jumped out on the Crusaders and cruised to a 65-51 victory. The Eagles will now play Trinity Byrnes in the semifinals on Thursday from the Sumter Civic Center.

Brown finished the game with 34 points for the Eagles. Brown is extremely explosive off the floor and very active. Brown plays so much than this size. Brown dominated the paint and even extended out to the perimeter to hit a few three pointers.
Best Offensive Performance : David Muncy (2019) Shannon Forest Christian
Muncy is such a savvy point guard that plays with a ton of confidence on the floor. Muncy finished the game with 31 points and scored 17 of his teams 21 points in the 2nd half. Muncy sees the floor well and plays with some swagger. Muncy is best when attacking the rack or penetrating and dishing. Muncy leaves it all out on the floor, his motor his constantly running at a high speed.
Best Freshman : Sam Wheeler (2021) Shannon Forest Christian
Wheeler 6’5 combo forward for the Crusaders did show some glimpses today. Wheeler must get stronger and more physical and that will come with time. Wheeler showed to step-out and knock down the 15-17 foot jumper.
Team Victory : The Palmetto Christian Academy Eagles
The Eagles move to 28-1 on the season. Brown came into the game averaging 22 ppg and 10 rebounds. Cole Silvester, Robert Gregg and Marc Haight all support Brown. Brown makes the engine go for Head Coach John Harris.
Future : Shannon Forest Christian
The Crusaders will return 4 starters next season. Point guard Adam Frank (2019) a transfer this off season from Wade Hampton HS finished with 6 points. Frank came into the game averaging 14.5 ppg. Mike McDowell a left-handed thick wing player finished with 5 points. The Crusaders finished the season with a 22-4 record. The Crusaders lost 3 times to Spartanburg Day.
