2020 Players from SCISA State Tourney
Prep Hoops takes a look at the 2020 players from SCISA State Tourney that we saw on the opening day of action.
Jordan Jones – Trinity Byrnes (Darlington) (pictured on front)
Jones has been consistent all season for the Titans. Jones a left-handed guard quarterbacked the football team to a SCISA 2-A State Championship and he’s hoping to do the same here with the basketball team. Jones scored 21 points in easy opening round victory. Jones can knock down the three pointer or attack the gaps.
Zyan Gilmore – Clarendon Hall (Summerton)
Gilmore is more of a scorer than a true point guard at times. Gilmore came into the game averaging 28.4 ppg this season for the Saints. Gilmore loves to have the ball in his hands and can break down defender. Gilmore has a nice mid-range game and can be very streaky from behind the arc. Gilmore needs to work harder at times on the defensive end of the floor.
Tyrese Mitchum – Clarendon Hall (Summerton)
Mitchum stands just 5’11 but is a bull in china shop. Mitchum plays with a barrel chest in the paint and doesn’t mind throwing his body around and making contact. Mitchum really lacks a true position on the floor. Mitchum generally plays in the poist and has great nose for the ball. Mitchum is averaging 12.9 ppg and 6.3 rebounds for the 14-5 Saints this season.
Kade Elliott – Clarendon Hall (Summerton)
Elliott fills his role very nicely on this Saints squad. Elliott a left-handed forward has bit of a low shot release.
Ty Walker – Northside Christian (Lexington)
Walker a running back on the gridiron brings that roughness to the hardwood. Walker got to the basket at ease at times today and had great body control on the floor. Walker hit some open shots and was able to change gears to get by defenders. Walker was a pleasant surprise for this member at Prep Hoops to see.
