5 Takeaways : Southside vs Camden 3rd Round SCHSL Playoffs
The Greenville Southside Tigers are on a mission to win another Class AAA State Championship. The Tigers came one closer to doing that after beating Camden 61-35. The Tigers 21-2 will return home to Greenville and play Walhalla in the Upper State Championship Game this Saturday night.
MVP : Tuzion Brock (2018) Greenville Southside
Brock was on point all night long for the Tigers. Brock finished with 19 points and took 3 charges on the floor. Brock a point guard just brings a great toughness and is just a great winner. Brock for sure is not a personal stats guys at all – all it matters is getting the win at the end of the day. Brock played football this season and played wide receiver for the Tigers.
Best Defensive Performance : Jamal Burke (2018) Greenville Southside (pictured on front)
Burke at times was altering and challenging shots when the referees decided to let the kids play. Burke 6’10 has great length and wingspan on the floor. Burke on the offensive end can step-out and shoot the ball from three point range. Burke runs the floor well. Burke scored 15 points in the win tonight.
Best College Prospect : R.J. Campbell (2019) Greenville Southside
Campbell is a thick bodied post player who really likes to play on contact in the paint. Campbell rebounds the ball on both ends of the floor. Campbell has already received interest heading into the spring AAU season. Campbell played AAU last year with Game Elite 2019 Black. Campbell finished the game with 7 points.
Unsigned SENIORS : Camden Starting Lineup
Besides Brock and Burke from Southside the Bulldogs starting lineup is looking for schools next fall. Cameron Jefferson, Devin Martin, Donovan Belton, Jericho Murphy and Malik Green. Jefferson was a vocal leader on the floor and played every possession like it was his last.
Belton a left-handed wing player has great court vision but at times just tries to get way too fancy with the basketball. Belton fills the lane in transition and really likes to slash to the rack. The Bulldogs finish the season at 15-7 for Head Coach Ron McKie.
Who is this guy ? Jalon Calhoun (2019) Greenville Southside
Calhoun starts at the shooting guard for the Tigers. Calhoun 5’11 finished with 11 points on 3 three pointers. Calhoun is the quarterback of the Tigers football team. Calhoun this past season finished with 2700+ yards of total offense while throwing for 20 touchdowns and rushing 8 more touchdowns.
