Week Seven Previews and Predictions
Another .500 week for the kid in picks last week. And with the line-up of games for the picks this week, that trend could continue if not get worse. But like the Crimson Tide in football you must keep pushing, and that’s what I plan on doing. So here are week seven’s Previews and Predictions.
Last Week: 2-2
Season: 11-6
Aiken (5-8, 1-2) at Taft (6-4, 2-1), Tuesday 7:30pm: After an 0-3 start, the Senators are on a roll winning 6 of there last 7 games. And with a win over the Falcons tonight Taft would be in a three-way tie for 1st in the CMAC, with a win over Woodward. Things are starting to get real interesting in the “Public School League”. But the Senators must beware as Aiken has the talent to keep this game close and possibly pull off the upset.
Prediction: Taft
Princeton (9-0, 6-0) at Mason (7-1, 4-1), Tuesday 7:30pm: An important game in the GMC with Mason needing a win to keep from falling into 3rd place in the conference. The Comets must contend with one of the best 1-2 punches in the city in Darius Bazley (#1 PHO 2018) and Darweshi Hunter (#74 PHO 2018), who combine to average 37.6ppg. Senior wing Noah Pedelty (#85 PHO 2018) must have a solid, all- around floor game if the Comets hope to pull-off the upset. This includes helping share the defensive chore of guarding Mr. Bazley.
Prediction: Princeton
Indian Hill (8-0, 5-0) at Deer Park (9-0, 5-0), Tuesday 7:30pm: Something must give as the two remaining undefeated teams in the CHL do battle. Indian Hill must be able to stand the pressure they will face from Deer Park throughout the evening. If they can limit the turnovers and control the pace of the game, it could be an interesting night in Wildcat country. But even if they are successful in those two areas can they get enough scoring to pull-off the upset? Madeira tried the same formula and almost pulled off the upset against Coach Gentry’s squad. It should be a good one in Deer Park.
Prediction: Deer Park
McNicholas (10-0, 4-0) at Purcell Marian (8-4, 2-2), Friday 7:30pm: With the Rockets starting to run away with the GCL Co-Ed Central Division, Purcell must have this victory to have a chance at the league title. Can the Cavaliers keep the senior backcourt duo of Ryan Reidy (PHO #178) and Cole Burdick in check and force someone else to beat them? If Purcell can make the evening a long one for Burdick and Reidy, they should have a chance in the end to walk away with an important home victory.
Prediction: Purcell Marian
St. Xavier (7-3, 0-0) at Moeller (8-3, 0-0), Friday 7:30pm: This is the conference opener for two of the best teams in Cincinnati. It will be interesting to see if the size of St. X will have a negative effect on the Crusaders. Four of the five starters for the Bombers are between 6’2 and 6’9, and they can bring more size off the bench. It will be interesting to see if Coach Kremer speeds up the pace a little for this match-up.
Prediction: Moeller
