Updated 2019 Rankings
The PrepHoopsNC 2019 Rankings have been updated and the top player remains the same. No player impacts the game the way that wing Wendell Moore of Cox Mill High School impacts a game. Here is a look at some of the players in the new rankings.
#1-Wendell Moore Jr., 6’5 SF Cox Mill HS Team CP3-Very Skilled and versatile player that knows how to win, can play the 1-5 positions due to his skill level and height. Has a great IQ for the game, plays both ends of the floor with good energy and stays out of foul trouble. Is a young player for his grade level which makes him that much more intriguing.
#2-Joey Baker 6’7 W Trinity Christian/Team Felton-Special player, has been starting varsity since 8th grade, on and off the court he has a maturity that is different from most his age. Can score the play in mutiple ways, shoots it from deep very well, has nice heigh and length, athletic player who simply wants to win and puts the team before himself. Committed to Duke University.
#3-Jalen Lecque 6’4 PG Christ School/Southern Stampede-He is an athletic point guard that can get up and down the floor with his speed, he is starting to find his shot from mid-range all the way out to the three-point line, he can dunk on anyone in the country with his 40 inch-plus vertical. Lecque is a strong defender with long arms and has the size, at 6-foot-4 to be a big-time College point guard. He is undervalued at the point guard spot with his ability to pass the ball and his rebounding ability. What he lacks in size against bigger post players, he makes up with his athletic ability.
#4-Josh Nickelberry 6’5 G Northwood Temple-One of the best scorers in the State, can score it well off the catch as well as off the bounce. Has continued to polish the rest of his game and has added more athleticism, gets better and better each time we see him play.
#5-Greg Gantt 6’6 SF Trinity Christian/Team Felton-One of the most underrated players in the region, he can play mutiple postions and understands how to play with other star players. Can shoot the ball from deep, play inside above and below the rim, rebounds and blocks shots at a very high rate
#6-Patrick Williams 6’5 PG West Charlotte-A big guard who has size, length , athleticism to go along with a great skill set and natural feel for the game. He can score off the dribble and is a match-up nightmare with his size. He can score over smaller guards and can take it in the paint and finish against bigs.
#7-Jaelyn Withers 6’8 F North Mecklenburg/Team Loaded-Player that has seen a huge jump in his recruitment over the last few months, he’s a versatile player that can play inside as well as step outside and score it. Numerous times throughout the season and summer we saw him put together some double/doubles in points and rebounds.
