UCO having success recruiting in Oklahoma
Recently Central Oklahoma has landed two Oklahoma standouts Colt Savage and today Carson Calavan. Savage is a Combo Guard that will likely play at the 2 or 3 for the Bronchos. Fort Gibson’s Calavan will fit in well at the Point Guard spot for head coach Tom Hankins squad.
Savage brings Central Oklahoma good ball handling and size at 6’5. For most of his high school career, Savage has been counted upon to be the go-to option for Sand Springs. Central Oklahoma is getting a player with supreme confidence and swagger. He will give them versatility and a player who can be counted upon from the start of his career to score the ball well. Savage was elated to commit to Central Oklahoma getting the pressure off his shoulders before the playoff stretch.
“I am thankful and excited to announce my commitment to UCO,” said Savage.
Savage is a player most casual Oklahoma basketball fans know. However, Calavan is the opposite at Fort Gibson. Calavan pulled the trigger committing to Central Oklahoma on Tuesday saying it just felt like home.
“UCO just felt like home to me,” said Calavan. “I’m 100% committed to UCO and I can’t wait to get started.”
The timing was perfect for Calvan right before the playoffs. He wanted to make sure the coaches knew he was all in on Central Oklahoma.
“Right now seemed like the perfect time to let them know I wanted to be there,” said Calavan. “I’m all in on what they’re trying to accomplish. I’m excited to get to work and play ball for Coach Hankins.”
Calavan provides Central Oklahoma with good ball handling, vision, unselfish play, and is a very underrated scorer. Calavan projects to be a good four year NCAA Division II player. Central Oklahoma continued to build off their previous classes with Oklahoma guys that are becoming the foundation of a good program in Edmond. In the tough MIAA Conference, it is key for Central Oklahoma to recruit well. At 14-6 and 7-4 in conference play, Central Oklahoma seems to have figured out a great formula to be successful each year.
Over the past three years out of Oklahoma, they have signed Marquis Johnson, Alex Ogunseye, Kyle Keener, and Josh Holliday.
