Top Transfers Ready to Hit the Hardwood
Last week we gave you the top transfers that were immediately eligible, this week we give you the list of players who are still waiting to step on the court. Most teams are close to the half-way point in games played for the season, which mean these players will be back shortly. In some cases that could even mean this week. Here is the list of the top transfers preparing to make their season debuts.
Jackson Ames 6’10 C West Clermont (#26 PHO 2020)- The young big man will be a big factor to the newest program in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference. Coming over from Batavia, Ames will be a big factor as a rim protector and rebounder. But he will also be dangerous in the pick and pop game as he can shoot from the perimeter as well. He will team up with senior guard Jay Tiemeyer to form a dangerous 1-2 punch.
Jared Baldock 6’0 PG-G Purcell Marian (#67 PHO 2020)- I was able to have a few words with Coach Scott Kerr recently and he is excited to have this young man aboard. As stated in the Shroder-Purcell Five Takeaways article, this young man shot close to 35% from three last season. Add that to his ball-handling ability and Jared gives the Cavaliers another play-maker to one of the top D-III teams in the city.
Dominic “DJ” Brewton 6’3 G Hughes (#56 PHO 2018)- In Brewton Coach Bryan Wyant got one of the better pure scorers in Southwest Ohio. Brewton is a capable shooter who when hot can shoot with range as well. But DJ is at his best off the bounce and in the transition game as he can finish with both hands with the athleticism to finish over and around bigger defenders. With DJ, Giovanni Santiago and Dwayne Rosado Hughes has maybe the best perimeter trio in the city.
Zubi Nwankwo 7’0 C Walnut Hills (Class of 2018)- Not much is known about this big man except that he has something that you cannot teach, size. There have been murmurs that Nwankwo has some post moves with the ability to finish over both shoulders. When he does make his debut, it will be interesting to see what impact he makes on the court.
Stevie Stewart 5’11 PG-G Taft (PHO #100)- This tough, gritty guard seems to fit perfectly with Coach DeMarco Bradley program. Stewart gets after it on the defensive end and can make things happen in the paint off penetration. Over the last AAU session he also showed some improvement in his shooting from the perimeter as well. Stevie could very well be the key to a deep run in March for the Senators.
