Top Standouts: Satellite vs. Rockledge
On Tuesday night, Rockledge played host to Class 6A-District 14 rival Satellite.
The Raiders honored seven seniors prior to the game in Robbie Hicks, Elijah Weaver, Zay Stevens, Carlos Jones, Jesson Walker and Jashaun Corbin.
Rockledge used a strong opening quarter and never looked back as it cruised to a 98-38 victory over the Scorpions. The Raiders improved to 20-3 on the season and 8-0 in the district as second place Satellite fell to (12-8, 8-3).
Here is a look at the top standouts on the night.
Elijah Weaver (Rockledge)
Committed to USC, Weaver produced 20 points in front of his future head coach Andy Enfield. The 6’5″ guard had two explosive dunks in the second half (), a couple of fancy jumpers and some sweet takes to the rack. Weaver has a complete game and it seems like he never actually gets tired on the floor.
Carlos Jones (Rockledge)
Underrated and fun to watch, Jones is a 6’3″ guard/forward who makes plays on his own. He benefited from some great passes in transition from his teammates, but Jones did a ton by himself on the way to a 19-point outing.
Zay Stevens (Rockledge)
A commanding attacker, Stevens is part of a deep group of pure athletes for Rockledge. At 5’11”, he’s both fast and smart. Stevens netted 18 points in this one including 10 at the half.
Tyler Sartori (Satellite)
The best offensive weapon for the Scorpions in this one was senior guard Tyler Sartori. A 5’11” vocal leader, Sartori had exactly half of his team’s points with 19 overall. He found his groove at times with his 3-point shot.
Robbie Hicks/O.C. Brothers (Rockledge)
Both Hicks and Brothers gave the Raiders a ton of effort. Hicks, a 6’2″ senior guard added 10 points as he stretched the floor with his outside shot. Brothers, a 6’3″ physical and gritty slasher had eight points. Both players are key contributors to Rockledge’s offense.
