Title Tilt: Carl Albert vs Del City
The Titan Classic Championship game featured an all Mid-Del matchup. Del City made a huge statement to the state letting everyone know they are not as far off from the elite teams in Class 5A as some would think. Read our breakdown of the big Title Tilt below!
Harrell continues to be consistent
Carl Albert can count on Mason Harrell scoring 25+ a night every single game. Each game the opponent knows Harrell is going to get his points some way. On this night Harrell scored the ball best attacking the rim drawing fouls and finishing well in traffic. Harrell has been the best high school player in the state this year without question!
Demontreal Crutchfield a name to know
Crutchfield hit huge shots down the stretch for Del City. He is just a sophomore for the Eagles. He scored the ball best when the game was on the line scoring 9 points in the fourth quarter. He has a good handle of the rock. The dawg attitude coaches love to have in a player is in Crutchfield. He plays hard non-stop on both ends. Not only was he huge on offense in the fourth quarter he also got several key steals. Crutchfield is a guy NCAA Division II programs should keep a close eye on.
Higgins leads the way
Kobe Higgins had a big day for Del City scoring 15 points from all three levels. He is a gamer at the Point with a good handle and uses his quickness to get him open. Higgins is a player rising in the 2019 Oklahoma Class that should have a great opportunity to play at the small college level.
Hopkins big block
Trey Hopkins had a huge block to lift Carl Albert to victory at the end of the game. He has not had the year scoring wise that he had hoped for however, Hopkins has found ways to contribute to the team success outside of the offense. Another area he has improved is rebounding. Give Hopkins a ton of credit for this win as his block sealed the victory as the clock expired.
Foul Count
The foul count for the game was very different. 31 fouls against Del City with just 14 fouls against Carl Albert. Teams are going to have to know going into the game that it is hard to not foul Harrell. He attracts so many fouls with his quickness and he has conquered the art of selling a call.
