The Talent: Rejoice Christian vs Westville
In the first round of the Chouteau Invitational, Westville jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter. The Eagles took no time to make a comeback as they went on a 16-0 run to end the first quarter with an eleven-point lead. The second quarter came out more even as Rejoice only extended their lead by two points at the half. Rejoice Christian finished the second half strong, not letting up on the Yellow Jackets as they went on to win 63-44.
Andrew Crow 2019 Rejoice Christian Guard
Crow was all-around guy for Rejoice Christian against Westville. He provided the spark and showed great court vision. He found the basket well and had a little touch from the outside as well. Crow is not a flashy played, but he gets the job done. He has good ball security and hardly ever turns the ball over. He finished with 18 points on the night. Crow will be pivotal to the success of Rejoice Christian this season. If he an Seay can keep clicking, they will be difficult to beat.
Justin Seay 2019 Rejoice Christian Wing
Seay was the scorer for Rejoice Christian against Westville. He was able to use his athleticism and attack the rim well. He used his length on both ends of the court to benefit Rejoice Christian. On the offensive end Seay used his length to score in the paint over his opponents. On the defensive end, he caused havoc, forcing the Yellow Jackets to shoot over him. Rejoice ran their offense trying to find Seay with an open shot. Seay finished the game with a game-high 20 points. Seay is an athletic wing and could cause problems for teams with mismatches.
Haydn Kaiser 2018 Westville Post
Kaiser was persistent in the paint for Westville against Rejoice. Westville found him on the break multiple times and he finished open layups. The Yellow Jackets also found them in their offense on occasion. He was big for Westville pulling down multiple rebounds throughout the night. On a young Westville team Kaiser was obvious leader. He led by example and worked hard for his team. Kaiser finished with 10 points on the night.
Caleb Swank 2018 Westville Guard
Swank was the best player for his Westville team. He showed a good shot from the perimeter, hitting a couple of 3’s. Swank got hot during the second and third quarter but was kept quiet for much of the rest of the game. He scored 10 of his team-high 12 points in those quarters. Swank will need to be more consistent throughout games if Westville wants a chance to go deep into postseason play. His production would also need to increase.
