SW Metro Boys Athlete of the Week, Sponsored by RedLine Athletics: Jan. 15-21
Mike Evens, Bloomington Jefferson – Bouncing back from an ankle injury suffered over the holiday break, Evens returned recently for the Jags and has sprung into a nice scoring role. He contributed 20 points to lead Jefferson over ranked Chaska in overtime last week.
Anders Nelson, Edina – The Hornets had a busy week of winning, knocking off St. Michael-Albertville, Minnetonka and Minneapolis Washburn all by double digits. Nelson dropped 28, 22 and 28 points in those respective contests.
Caleb Druvenga, Shakopee – The sophomore guard keeps plugging away as the Sabers are a steadily improving team that has a lot of years left with its rotation. Druvenga scored 28 in a loss to Eastview and 22 in a win over Rosemount.
Jalen Dearring, Minnetonka – Another young star is budding in the shifty Dearring, who leads the way for the Skippers offensive attack. He went off for 25 in a big win over Waconia and added 16 in a tough loss to Edina.
