SW Metro Boys Athlete of the Week, Sponsored by RedLine Athletics: Drake Dobbs
Being a member of the Lake Conference is a yearly challenge. All five schools roll out talent, non-conference schedules are heavy, and bragging rights and rivalries seem to occur every other day.
For Drake Dobbs and the Eden Prairie Eagles, it’s been a successful and fun first month of hoops. Drake put up 18 and 24 points last week in two huge wins, earning him the SW Metro Boys Athlete of the Week award.
”The season is going really well. We are off to a great start and are 8-1. A highlight for sure would be beating our section rivals Edina and Chaska.”
One of four sophomore standouts for EP, Dobbs is quickly becoming one of the better shooters in the metro. But that’s not all he’s putting his time into. “This past year I’ve worked hard on my strength and quickness,” Drake said. “Also, I’ve put a lot of time in on ball handling and shooting off the dribble. I’m looking to increase my explosiveness and lateral quickness.”
Dobbs won’t wear the cap and gown for high school graduation until 2020, but multiple college programs are already interested and talking to him.
“I’ve heard from Northern Iowa, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Creighton, Davidson, Nebraska Omaha, George Mason, and I’ve been invited to watch a game at Drake University next weekend.”
Help congratulate Drake Dobbs on receiving the Southwest Metro Athlete of the Week Award, presented by RedLine Athletics!
