The 14-6 Titans visit the 8-11 Saints in Scottsdale.. Notre Dame is led by 6’4” Junior Skylar Certo (19.6ppg, 5rebs) and Joey Jaquint (8.6ppg). The Titans have a more balanced attack with forward Aiden Weber averaging a double-double (6’5” Sr. 17.9ppg 11.3rebs). James Hodge-Green (10.1ppg), Luke Ashworth (6’3” Sr. 9.9ppg), Jaylen Fleming (6’3” Sr. 9.3ppg)
Weber got things started with an opening 3 while 6’4 Jr. Jason Siegle used a Kevin McHale up and under move to put the Saints on the board. The Titans attacked the glass early to give themselves second chance opportunities. Arcadia also employed their 1-2-2 half court trap and got three straight turnovers to break the game open and end the quarter with a 23-11 advantage. It was more of the same in the 2nd quarter as Arcadia continued to frustrate the Saints with their defense and did a great job making the extra pass to get the best shot on offense. The Titans went into the locker room with a halftime lead of 47-24. The Titans continued to dominate in the second half leading by over 40 points and enacting a running clock in the fourth quarter to ultimately come away with the 95-54 win.
Best Post: Jason Siegle (Notre Dame)- has good post moves an plays vertically on defense blocking multiple shots by keeping his hands straight up in the air.
Slasher: Jaylen Fleming (Arcadia)- strong guard who puts his head down and gets to the rim.
Best PG: James Hodge-Green (Arcadia)- does a good job of running the show for the Titans and getting his team into the right offensive sets. Had several buckets in the first half by finding openings along the baseline for layups.
Best Shoes: Max Majerle ( Notre Dame)- east to tell by looking at the 6’2 freshman that he’s related to the former Phoenix Suns legend and current GCU head coach Dan Majerle as the resemblance is uncanny. She game was also on point with the black on black gum sole PG1’s.
Shooter: Zach Thomas (Arcadia)- 5’11 Sr. is an extremely accurate shooter if open with his feet set. Blew the game open hitting three 3’s in the 3rd quarter to extend the Titan’s lead to 33 points.
** Also need to give some love to Johnny Roessler (Arcadia)- came off the bench to knock down several 3’s of his own.**
Best Forward: Aiden Weber: has scary bounce if he can attack the rim uninhibited (saw him make a reverse dunk off a lob in an earlier game this season). Does a good job attacking from the high post and using his long arms to snag rebounds.
