Currently checking in as Nevada’s 24th-ranked 2018, Palo Verde’s Tieman Allen is hoping to see some of his current interest turn into offers soon.
A 6-foot-6 shooting guard, Allen has been hearing from JuCos and D2 programs, and says the ultimate goal is to get to a D1 school.
“I’ve just gotten interest from a couple of D2 and JuCo schools. I’ve been looked at by a couple D1 schools, but I’m still waiting for something,” said Allen. “My coach has been helping me, he’s been on the phone with a lot of coaches just trying to help me out.”
Allen says he wouldn’t mind heading to A JuCo to bulk up a bit, and even mentioned prep school as an option.
“I’m definitely considering JuCo, or maybe prep school for a year just to grow and develop a little more,” he said. “I’m a late bloomer, so I still need a little time to put on some wight. And D1 is definitely the goal.”
A sharpshooting guard with great size, Allen mentioned to PHNV what makes him such a threat on the floor.
“I’ve always been a really good shooter, that’s always been the strongest part of my game. So, I just like coming off screens, finding the open shot. I like being the leader on the court, and getting everyone excited and ready to play,” said Allen, who says being 6’6 at the guard spot certainly has its advantages.
“It definitely opens up the lane, and there’s not too many 6’6 guards, so I definitely get a lot of mismatches. My favorite thing is just shooting over smaller opponents.”
And now, with his senior year halfway done, he says the goal is simple: make a run at the state tournament.
“It’s been going really well, we’re very disciplined. We started out the season a little slow, but we’ve really been stepping it up lately, and we’ve been playing some pretty good basketball,” said Allen.
“The number one goal is to finish first in our league, and then make a run for state.”
