Recruiting Report: Rylen Grundy (2018)
One Indiana basketball player is taking social media by storm with his huge dunks but dunking is not all he can do. Rylen Grundy of South Bend Riley is an ultra-athletic forward who can get to the rim and dunk on you. Grundy is a 6’5 senior who has skill to be inside but is starting to be able to stretch it out a bit.
His recruiting is going slow but the high academic athletic has a few options. He has been admitted to the Purdue engineering program and has been seeing some interest from Holy Cross, Huntington, North Dakota State, and Rose-Hulman. Grundy is planning on taking a visit to Rose-Hulman in the near future.
South Bend Riley is performing very well as a team and Grundy can be attributed to their success with how he bullies guys inside and stretches out the floor in transition.
“We’re playing great as a team this year, Grundy said. “Everyone is finding and executing their role.”
This year Grundy has really improved going to the rim and is still continuing to work on his outside game. He is a guy who is improving at all times and is already very skilled around the rim. The college coaches have noticed this ability and have noticed what he needs to work on, something that he is already doing.
“I’ve improved on my aggressiveness defensively and making sure I’m always talking,” Grundy said. “(The coaches) say They like my athleticism and aggressiveness and I need to work on my perimeter game.”
As a highly skilled and high academic guy Grundy will be highly sought after at the D3/NAIA level. He knows what he is looking for in a future school and knows what he wants to major in.
“I’m interested in civil engineering and architecture,” Grundy said. “I’m looking for a school that’ll help me grow academically and athletically. Location isn’t really important to me”
