Recruiting Report: Robert Harvey (2019)
Hillcrest 2018 small forward Robert Harvey continues to have an outstanding senior campaign. We have seen him multiple times this season and he has been super impressive each time. The 6’3” shooting guard is a lanky and athletic wing that is learning how to score while taking quality shots. Displays a silky smooth jumper especially off the catch from three. Pure stroke. Moves well without the ball to get open and sets up his shot. Would be wise for D2 programs to jump in now! Low-majors should also take a look.
Harvey broke down the first half of his high school season.
“It is going good. I have been playing well. A lot of reporters doubted us and said we weren’t going to be anything. We are showing everyone what we can do. I have been playing very well and stepping up my game. I couldn’t really showcase my skills in the summer. I know since I am a captain on the team I have to step up.”
Where has he improved the most since last season?
“My shooting got real well. Especially from three. Rebounding and I have been trying to work on my defense. Fast breaks and getting down the court. I feel my overall game has improved.”
He spoke about what he feels he can bring to a team at the next level.
“I can bring energy, defense, versatility, rebounding.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I have a lot of schools talking to me. Maryville is still hitting me up. South Carolina Upstate.”
Maryville has made him a major priority with an early offer.
“They talk to me a lot. They show me a lot of love. They talk to me every day. I haven’t been down there to visit yet. I look forward to seeing it.”
Chicago State also offered him after his play at the Proviso West Holiday Tournament. New schools showing interest after holidays include Kent State, Boston, Eastern Illinois, and Tennessee State. What will he be looking for in a school?
“How they treat you. The school. Not just athletics, but academics.”
