Recruiting Report: Rob Crowther (2018)
As the floor general on one of the state’s best squads, American Fork’s Rob Crowther is certainly a college prospect. But it’ll be awhile before the 6-foot-1 point guard takes the floor for any college program.
He’ll head on a two year mission after his time with the Cavemen, and after that, hopes to land with a school — there’s one in particular that has been pursuant of him.
“I went on a visit to a school in Oregon, George Fox, and I’ve been thinking about playing up there. But I might try and walk-on somewhere , too. I’m just not too sure yet,” said Crowther.
“I’m going to come home from my mission and evaluate my options after that.”
A pass-first point guard, Crowther defined his skill-set, strengths and weaknesses to PHUT.
“As a player, I feel like I’m a pretty good shooter from the 3-point line. I feel like I can create for others pretty well. And defensively, I get a lot of steals,” said Crowther.
“I’m working on my ability to finish at the rim more. I can get into the paint, but usually I kick it out a lot, so I need to work more on finishing at the rim through contact.”
American Fork is one of the most talented teams in Utah, and Crowther, though he’s not asked to score a ton, takes pride in his ability to disperse the ball to his capable teammates.
“We’re doing pretty well as a team, we played well in California over the break and competed well. When we come together as a team, we’re one of the top teams (in the state),” said Crowther.
“Individually, I feel like the season is going pretty well. I’m not the leading scorer or anything, but I lead in assists, which I think is awesome.”
