Recruiting Report: Naseer Turner (2018)
Kenwood 2018 small forward Naseer Turner was about as good as we have seen him with his play at the Proviso West Tournament over the holiday break. The 6’5” rangy forward was all over the floor and came out aggressive offensively. Turner converted several quick finishes on the interior. He took it to the hoop strong off the bounce with his long strides. Got in the paint throughout. Turner made plays on the offensive glass with five offensive rebounds including a tip in dunk on one. Played to his strengths. Kenwood forward is a D2 player at this stage.
How is his senior season going?
“It could be going better. We have a young group. Senior leadership we are trying to bring them along. It could be better. I think individually I am playing pretty good. I just want to be more consistent.”
He told us now that he is a senior he is learning who he is as a player and how to use his strengths.
“Using my advantages. I have always had them, but now I know how to use them better. Putting it all together.”
What can he bring to a team at the next level?
“I feel like I can bring a lot. Energy, speed, quickness. I feel I am very athletic and bring a good defensive player. I can attack and get to the basket off the dribble.”
Turner updated us on his recruitment.
“Right now I have been talking to Kent State. I have been talking to Lewis.”
Lewis made quite an impression on his visit there.
“When I went down to visit there I liked it a lot. It was a family vibe because the school isn’t really that big. The whole basketball community there. I really enjoyed it. They made me feel like it was home.”
Kent State is also involved.
“I love it. It has a nice big campus. I like the environment there.”
Tulsa and Drake have also shown preliminary interest. After the holiday tournaments he landed an offer from Northern Michigan.
